There's a history book all about Dr Martens availabl at Amazon:- Doctor Martens: The Story of a British Icon by Martin Roach – Amazon link here
The Dr Martens brand turned 50 this year and there are several articles in the news including this page in the Guardian
Deliveries of the latest 2010 styles of Dr Marten boots are now in and Wow! If you thought the bright neon 1460 boots of last year were bright, you'll be gob-smacked at these new metallic electric blue Dr Martens 1460 boots! Also available in bright pink and glorious gold – you've never seen anything like these boots!
All deliveries can be specified to use free 1-2 day priority service using HDNL (the UK's largest home delivery service), although the usual Royal Mail ‘Tracked’ services are assured by senior management at Royal Mail to remain unaffected by the strike.
Have you seen all the media reports about the new Dr Who (Matt Smith) custume including Dr Martens boots? They're all over the place, and yet the only photos I've seen (e.g. here) don't look like Dr Martens to me. They're a bit like these classic 8-eyelet DMs but the soles aren't Dr Martens Airwair. On the other hand, both the previous Dr Who (David Tennant) and the new Dr Who 'assistant' (Karen Gillan) seem to like Converse :-)
Some good price reductions on Dr Martens shoes in the Summer Sale Season! For example, classic 1B99 boots with airwair soles and an extra special ornate design as part of the Flocked Collection. These boots have a very delicate material for the pattern and we would recommend that you should wear them on dry days and avoid muddy areas - Was £84.99, Now £44.99. Dr Martens ladies gladiator style sandals, featuring a padded footbed and lace up front. These sandals have airwair soles and a 2.5 inch heel - Was £49.99, Now £29.99. Unfortunately, we've also seen a few price rises of £5 or £10 on some lines.
We've noticed a few prices have dropped in this last stock update, the 'Nellie' wellie in black or yellow is now only £35, the Jenna Amber boot is now just under £50 and the 'Flower Burst ' tall white boot reduced by £30 to £54.99.
New in at the end of April are some nice chunky-heeled peep-toe shoes, in grey and the bright red Dr Martens - Latoya - Red Palatino which is our favourite here. Last year's Dr Martens Gladiator sandal range has been expanded and improved with shoes such as this highish-heel Dr Martens - Buena - Black Palatino and Dr Martens - Ringo - Dark Brown men's walking sandal.
Like Dr Martens classic 16-hole boots? Like skulls? Here you go – Dr Martens - Rose Skull - Black. In case that isn't extreme enough (well, it isn't really), have a look through our New Rock Boots site.
We've added a small feature to our home page to show the very latest Dr Martens shoes just added! Also some new photography and a few minor tweaks to keep us fresh!
Some crazy, fun, exciting new ranges from Dr Martens! Look for the new 'Made in Colour' and 'Made in Pastel' ranges for Spring and Summer 2009. The Colour range feature classic Doc Marten boots and Mary-Jane shoes in bright primary colours with same-colour soles. Also available in kid's sizes. Pastels features classic boots with normal Airwair soles in more subdued patent leather uppers including a silver-grey that's sure to be a big seller.
If you want Cheery Red DMs, but not the classic lace-up, there's a new pair of Chelsea Boots in this iconic colour - see the Dr Martens - 2976 - Cherry Red.
Well, we knew that a long time ago, but thanks for noticing;-) You can read the article on Dr Martens here and there's a gallery of shoes here featuring Agyness Deyn wearing red patents (see our page on the red patent leather boots that Agnes is wearing), and the same white Doc Martens patents as Daisy in our photo, above, and Peaches Geldof is also pictured in the black patents. As an aside, I think the boots worn by Alice Dellal are New Rock boots, not Dr. Martens
As usual, we'll be stocking a large range of Hush Puppies at discount prices, with the option of free UK delivery and regular money-off vouchers.
If you follow A-list celebs, it seems that gladiator-style sandals are the footwear to be seen in! While you might not associate Doc Martens with such things, there are some we'd point you to such as these sturdy Gladiator-style men's sandals which are also available in dark brown.
(Warning: some strong language)
A Guardian article on 5th May suggests so, because, their expert says, they have "no shock absorbency and little heel support". Well look no further than Doc Martens pumps, my friend, with their superb Airwair soles giving support and flexibility. The Dr Martens Cirrus Christina ballerina pump, for example.
The youngsters may not yet be ready for Daisy Lowe, but they can still share your love for a good classic pair of Doc Martens. We've a patterned crackled effect kids boot, but the best one is the kids version of the classic black Dr Martens 8-eyelet 1460 boot.
Summer's nearly here and with it comes the new 'Vintage Collection' from Dr. Martens. We're hoping to get these in before too long as these are Made in England!! The new photos are courtesy of Dr Martens - this one is the fashion model Daisy Lowe wearing the new Dr Martens - 1460z - White Leather boots
Arriving just too late for the last update were a few more pairs of boots from Doc Martens. For the spivs out there is the new all-white "Brando" (also available in black & white). Something a bit more substantial is a new Dr Martens Biker Boot in grey and dark brown, both with a weathered effect and three buckled straps. There's also a good-looking hand-finished riveted-leather "Jolie" boot.
On top of the 37 additions last month, we've just taken stock of a further 25 new styles, which must give us one of the UK's largest Dr Martens stock range! The main features here are the Dr Martens – 1460 – Viola Leopard, the Dr Martens – Blaze Jirair – Dark Brown Grizzly and the Dr Martens – Perdita Mary Jane - all of which we think will be this season's fashion highlights from DM.
We've a huge number of new releases this Spring - no less than 37 new styles!
Our favourites are the crazy Dr Martens two-tone Adina 14-eye boots with their chic baroque patterning. There are two new ballerina pumps with tan leopard and snow-leopard animal prints - hardly the sort of shoe you'd expect from DMS, but showing the company is determined to progress into the fashion shoe market for men and women.
However, irrespective of what we like, we think the most popular new Doc Martens boot will be the very fashionable Dr Martens Oxblood Thema 14-eyelet boot with it's 'recycled belt' effect - perfect for the eco-trend-setter looking for a unique design.
